    Centrally Located: Additionally, the Klamath Basin is home for numerous special activities throughout the year. In February, enjoy the Bald Eagle Conference held locally. We have the largest concentration of wintering Bald Eagles in the contiguous 48 states. April is the peak of the spring waterfowl migration thereby offering an excellent opportunity for bird watching in the numerous surrounding wildlife preserve. The Klamath Memorial Rodeo & Pow Wow take place in May and is followed in June by the Great Northwest Pro Rodeo. Crater Lake is the picturesque setting for the rim run and marathon bearing its name each year in August, which is also the month for Klamath Tribes Restoration Celebration. All of this in addition to the many fairs, festivals and celebrations taking place at any given time ensure that, no matter what time of the year you visit us, we will be able to find a pursuit to interest you.   • 55 miles south of Klamath Falls is Mt. Shasta and Mt. Shasta Ski Park. Recent ash flows visible north of Weed, Canada Mountains are over 14,000 feet high. Ski Park offers rentals for snowboarding, skiing, and more.

  • Link River Trail - see where Klamath Falls was located before hydropower was constructed. Trail is about one mile long, easy walking, wildlife viewing along Link River.
  • 6 miles south of Klamath Falls is Klamath Wildlife Area, abundant waterfowl, including many varieties of geese as well as songbirds. Self guided tours.
  • 28 miles from Upper Klamath Wildlife Refuge. Large eagle nesting area, canoe trails, and elk habitat across highway.
  • 35 miles from Lake of the Woods. Old growth timber, great for fishing, boating, trails, day use and biking. A variety of wildlife viewing including Ospreys, Eagles, and Elk.
  • Williamson River - Highway 97, near Collier Park. Great fishing conditions, fly-fishing, and the river is a spawning ground for trout. Wildlife viewing.

    Directions

    Traveling from the north on Highway 97 from Bend: Go straight on Business 97, sign says Klamath Falls, Reno, approximately 2 miles. It will be the 4th stop light. Turn right on Washburn Way. Go 1 mile and the Best Western Olympic Inn is on the corner of Washburn and South 6th street
